
Port Blair, Jan 21: The Lt. Governor, A& N Islands, Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) is on a visit to the North & Middle Andaman to review progress of the ongoing developmental works. On his arrival at Baratang this morning, the Lt. Governor was received by the Deputy Commissioner (North & Middle Andaman), Mrs. KritiGarg, Assistant Commissioner (Middle Andaman), Mr. Piyush Rohankar and DFO, Baratang, Mr. Vanjulavalli. A Guard of Honour was presented to the Lt. Governor by the contingent of A&N Police at Mangroves Forest Guest House, Baratang.
The Lt. Governor held meeting with the PRI members, HODs and general public in the Forest Guest House and reviewed the issues raised & discussed during the previous meeting held on Nov 28, 2017. Various new issues viz. poor condition of road, conducting beach mela, construction of road towards the helipad, opening of petrol pump etc. were raised by the PRI members during today’s meeting. The Lt Governor directed the PRI member to coordinate with DC (N&MA) and AC (MA) on these issues.
The Lt. Governor also visited & inspected PHC Baratang, where he interacted with the patients and enquired about the available medical facilities.
Upon reaching Rangat, the Lt. Governor visited Model Fishermen Village at Nimbutala. He also inspected Raman Bagicha to review the arrangement for conducting beach mela, which will be held soon, and directed the DC (N&MA) & AC (MA) to make the beach eco-friendly for tourism development.
The Lt. Governor also held a meeting with PRI members, HODs and general public in the Community Hall, Rangat. Issues related to poor road condition, Islander Card, antenatal check up, payment of MGNREGA, 1/3rd payment of DRM were raised and discussed in this meeting.
Accordingly, the DC (N&MA) ensured that she will examine the matter and resolve them soon. The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Seropina Barla, Pramukh Panchayat Samiti, Middle Andaman, Rangat. Tomorrow the Lt. Governor will visit Diglipur.
