Port Blair, jan 17: The Andaman and Nicobar Police celebrated its Raising Day on 16.01.2018 with great enthusiasm and a sense of pride. As a part of this celebration, a colorful cultural programme followed by a “BadaKhana” was organized at Police Lines, Port Blair in which all the senior police officers and around 500 upper & lower subordinates of various units of A&N Police had participated. Mrs Nuzhat Hassan, IPS, Director General of Police, A&N Islands was the chief guest on this auspicious occasion.
After the welcome address by the Superintendent of Police (AP) Mrs. Usha Rangnani, IPS, a joyful & mesmerizing performance comprising of various songs, dances and skits on different social issues like cyber crime, Beti Bachao BetiPadhao and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences was presented by the Police Entertainment Team, which amused and captivated the entire gathering.
Padama Shree Awardee Mr. Naresh Chandra Lall, the Brand Ambassador of Swacchh Bharat Abhiyan of A&N Islands was the special invitee on the occasion who presented commendation certificates and prizes to IRBn unit and Police Station Pahargaon for maintaining proper cleanliness and hygienic environment under Swacchh Bharat Abhiyaan . Mr. Naresh Chandra Lall, who has been quietly transforming dirty corners in the Islands into bright attractive public spaces, in his address, exhorted police personnel to fulfill Prime Minister’s dream of a “Clean & Hygienic India” and to play a steering role in motivating other organizations too. He also praised the efforts by A&N Police department for taking an active part in Swacchh Bharat Mission and contributing towards cleaner Islands.
During the function, the Director General of Police, ANI interacted with the participants and gave prizes to 15 tiny tots i.e. the wards of the police personnel, who secured Ist, IInd and IIIrd positions in dance, drawing, singing and fancy dress competitions organized at the Police Tuition Centre, Police Lines during the week long celebrations of Raising Day.
Speaking on the occasion, DGP, ANI, in her address, called upon the police personnel to maintain high standards of decency & discipline during duty & off duty hours. She further motivated everyone to render better services to the people and appealed them to show professionalism, transparency and sensitivity in their functioning. Various activities being undertaken by the force like sports and cultural activities, welfare measures extended to the police personnel and contributions of the police department in various schemes like Swachh Bharat Mission, Beti Bachao BetiPadhao etc. were also enumerated by the DGP.
The glorious evening of the Raising Day function of the A & N Police concluded with the vote of thanks by Mr. Michael Raj, DySP (AP) which was followed by ‘BadaKhana’. BadaKhana is a tradition being followed in forces to inculcate healthy relationship between the officers and men of the force so as to develop a feeling of togetherness and proximity. It is organized so that all ranks can dine and make merry together in relaxed atmosphere of mutual bonhomie. The appetizing ‘BadaKhana’ was enjoyed by all amidst the melodious tunes played by the A&N Police Brass Band & ladies Pipe Band. The entire function of the Raising Day celebration at Police Lines was conducted under the supervision of Mrs. Usha Rangnani, IPS, Superintendent of Police (AP).
