Port Blair, Jan 17: The NRSE Division of Electricity Department has conducted mass awareness programs on Grid-connected Rooftop Solar power plants (GCRT) on residential buildings at Sippighat today (17.01.2018), wherein general public were apprised about the benefits of the Solar Rooftop power plant which not only helps in reduction in diesel generation but also helps in reducing pollution. The consumers were requested to avail the benefits of 70% subsidy being provided by the MINRE on the installation of Rooftop Solar PV systems.
The Executive Engineer (NRSE), explained the requirement/ criteria for installation of such plants like “the area required for 1KWp power plant would not be more than 10Sq. meter and the cost would be approximately Rs.27,000/ KWp”. The consumers were advised to approach any of the three empanelled developers, for installation of rooftop solar PV system.
Further, the consumers were requested to come forward and avail the benefits of the GCRT scheme and join in production of power through solar energy considering as a social cause.
Similar awareness programs have been conducted at Calicut Panchayat and Beodnabad Panchayat with the help of the Pradhan and PRI members. The NRSE division has requested the public representatives to come forward and help the Department in promoting such renewable energy schemes for the betterment of these Islands. The general public have also been requested to avail benefits from such mass awareness programs as and when conducted in their respective panchayats to get an apparent picture of the entire scheme and clear their doubts in person with the NRSE officials.
