Port Blair, July 02: In its efforts to enforce ban on plastic carry bags, the Port Blair Municipal Council conducts surprise checks on commercial establishments within municipal limit. In one such check conducted on 02.07.2012, 09.000 kg plastic carry bags used by the shopkeeper for commercial purpose was seized.
The Council in a press-note has once again cautioned commercial establishments not to use plastic carry bags for any purpose failing which action is liable to be initiated against such establishment as per rules.
