Billyground, Jan 04: A&N Islands, especially Middle Andaman, is experiencing heavy rains since last 03 days. According to reports Kalshi, Janakpur, Urmilapur, Laxmanpur Parnashala & Dasharathpur under Rangat Tehsil have experienced huge damage to the paddy and Rabi crops during to rain. Informing over telephone the Pradhan of Swadeshnagar, Haringar Gram Panchayat and Basantipur Gram Panchayat said that many acres of land bearing the crops are submerged in water.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Mr. Uttam Mondal, Pradhan Harinagar further informed that if the rain continues for 02 more days it may create havoc for the Areca Nut farmers.
But as per the weather forecast it is seen that since today evening the situation is considerably changing. Mr. Mondal urged the A&N Administration to extend their full support to the farmers those who have the insured the crops so that it may help farmers to overcome the damages.
