Port Blair, January 04: A good news for the islanders, mostly to those who are completely dependent on the services of Harbor Ferry Vessels and also to the islanders residing in the Nicobar District as 03 newly constructed harbor sector vessels have reached Port Blair and MV Kalighat which was out of service since a long time will start providing services this month.
As per reports, Harbor sector vessels MV Sher Ali, MV Dugong and MV Padhak reached the Islands today from Goa. Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Deputy Director, Directorate of Shipping Services, Mr R Veeraih this morning said that handing over and taking over of the harbor sector vessels, registration process etc has to be completed. “As soon as this few formalities is completed these harbor sector vessels will start providing services mostly to Bambooflat, Chatham and Panighat region,” said Mr Veeraih.
Adding to it Mr Veeraih also gave a good news that the Inter Island Sector Vessel MV Kalighat is also ready to serve the islands again and said that the ship is expected to reach here in the middle of the month. “All the major issues of generator in the ship has been resolved and we are waiting just for some document clearances,” Mr Veeraih added.
