Diglipur, Dec 29: For internet communication the general public of Diglipur area is completely dependent upon BSNL services. BSNL is presently providing its services in Diglipur through 16 towers.
Good news is that another seven towers have also been sanctioned few months ago for the Diglipur region but the sad news is that due to total lack of enthusiasm from the Revenue officials, these seven towers may not see light the day very soon.
Here, out of the present 16 towers, 3G services are available only in two towers.
Because of lack of GPRS connectivity in mobiles, subscribers are forced to borrow services from Broadband subscribers.
Meanwhile, out of the seven new proposed areas land has been allotted only at Nabagram Panchayat area, which has been approved by the Lt. Governor. Land for other areas is yet to be allotted by the revenue officials, it is learnt.
The equipments for raising towers in these areas have already been sanctioned and there is no issue in installation, sources said. However the only delay seems to be from the Revenue department.
Meanwhile, few villages like RK Gram, Madhupur, Telephone Exchange, were selected for 3G towers, which will help in sorting out fast internet problems in bazaar area. They will provide more coverage and no congestion of internet.
As per details other new BSNL towers will cover Aerial bay, Shibpur, Radhanagar, Kalighat, Ramnagar, Kishorinagar, Madhupur, Sitanagar , RK Gram and Keralapuram areas.
As per reports one tower installation cost is presently about 1 Crore 30 thousand, if these towers are not installed in the specified time then the cost of project will increase and the infrastructure may be transferred or diverted to any other places as in the case of Gandhinagar, where the sanctioned amount of installation was 20 lakhs which was later raised to 35 lakh due to the delay in installation and the project is still pending.
Immediate implementations are the need of the hour. The BSNL and Administration must sort out the land allotment problems as soon as possible for the better implementation of the BSNL projects in remote North Andaman.
