Port Blair, Jan 02: Crying foul over press release issued by Andaman and Nicobar Police regarding seizure of Padauk Hand Sawn Timber from Dandus Point, which was published by all local print media, the Divisional Forest Officer of South Andaman, Mr. Murali Sankaaar mentioned that the seizure of padauk hand sawn timber from Dundus Point forest area on 30th December, 2017 was actually the joint efforts of both Forest and Police Departments.
“Based on the credible information, a team comprising staff of both the agencies carried out joint combing operation at Jungli Barrack area under Tushnabad Range resulting in detection of 3.229 cbm of paduak hand sawn timber (beam size). The Range Officer, Mannarghat has prepared seizure memo and taken possession of the seized timber,” the DFO added.
