Mayabunder: Dec 29: Two Myanmarese Nationals floating on a massive Bamboo raft have been apprehended from Avis Island area of Mayabunder region this morning by Andaman and Nicobar Police.
Due to extreme dehydration both were immediately rushed to RP Hospital at Mayabunder and were admitted. Sources said that both are out of danger now.
According to them due to illness, the third person, who was with them, died on the way.
Meanwhile few more Bamboo structures were found floating at Diglipur region too.
Together with one Bamboo structure found at Avis Island, two more such structures were found at Sagar Dweep and Ross & Smith Island area.
The Coast Guard Diglipur has reportedly sent two ships and one Dornier aircraft for possible spotting of more structures. In the morning DySP Diglipur along with Coast Guard Officials inspected at Diglipur Jetty area.
Reliable sources told Andaman Sheekha that three more Burmese Nationals are believed to be in Shanti Nagar area of Diglipur. Combing operation will be launched late tonight.
Earlier nearly seven years back many such structures had reportedly reached North Andaman Islands from Myanmar after a severe cyclonic storm in Myanmar. A large number of people reportedly do fishing in such massive bamboo made rafts, which get drifted in bad weather. Name of the two people, who reached Avis Island today are Mr. Theinyogongee Thaween, 32 years and Mr. Khamonng, 30 years while Mr. Uneseey, 50 years died earlier. All of them are said to be Buddhist and were drifting in sea for nearly 20 days before reaching Avis Island.
It has been learnt that Police have recovered some utensils, dried fish, clothes etc from the raft.
