I am happy to note that the “VAN MAHOTSAVA” is being celebrated in the month of July in the Islands. This is the time when monsoon is in full swing and this makes it ideal for new tree plantation in the Islands. Our rich forest cover should not make us complacent; trees are our protectors and benefactors as these not only maintain ecological balance but also mitigate ill effects of soil erosion, pollution, flood etc.
I appeal to all our people to plant as many trees as possible and help the Administration in protecting the rich biodiversity of our Islands. I extend my best wishes for the success of this 63rd “VAN MAHOTSAVA”.
