Port Blair, Dec 22: Since formation of BJP lead government of 16th Lok Sabha, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, M.P. has taken every possible efforts with the Ministry of RT & Highways and other concerned Ministries for construction of two major bridges one each on Middle Strait Creek & Humphrey Strait Creek for the benefit of Islanders.
In pursuant to that the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has expedite tendering process to award the work and finally the lowest bid of Rs: 170.40 Crores offered by M/S Mantena Vasishta Bridge(JV) of Hyderabad towards construction Bridge over the Middle Strait Creek has been accepted and issued “letter of award” to them vide Letter No.NHIDCL/NH-223/Middle Strait Bridge/2016/195 dated 18.12.2017.
The contract agreement will be executed within fifteen days and the work for Construction of Middle Strait Bridge will be completed within 3 yrs from the date of award. In view of the above development, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray has expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of RT & Highways and also to the NHIDC Ltd for their initiatives and efforts in construction of Major Bridges of A & N Islands.
