Port Blair, Dec 20: Due to the current forecast of bad weather the wooden dinghies which reached Dinghy Ghat of Aerial bay today for weekly market were ordered not to ply back in the evening to Gandhi Nagar, Shyam Nagar, Sagar Dweep and Paschim Sagar villages.
The affected passengers demanded shelter and food due to sudden decision to halt the dinghies.
Meanwhile the Asst. Commissioner Diglipur asked the Port Management Board to make arrangements for the affected passengers to stay in the passenger hall at Aerial Bay jetty and Pradhan Gandhi Nagar to make arrangements for their food. Many passengers made their self arrangements to stay at various places, it is learnt.
The speed boat passengers who reached Diglipur today from Port Blair complained rough sea voyage. The speed boat was also reportedly asked not to ply back tonight at 9 pm as per schedule and return sailing of this boat will be decided only after observing tomorrows weather. As per the reports the Coast Guard ships were shifted to safe ports like Mayabunder and Gandhinagar side.
