Port Blair, Dec 20: An Extended Central Executive Committee meeting of the Non-Gazetted Government Officers’ Association, A & N Islands held on 16th December, 2017 at Crusade House, Port Blair reviewed the progress in settlement of various issues pertaining to service matter of government employees. The meeting expressed concern over the luke warm attitude of the Administration towards the genuine demands of employees. The meeting decided to serve an agitation notice to the Administration demanding immediate settlement of the Charter of Demands. The Charter of Demands include (i) Regularization of Ad-hoc service period of teachers from initial date of appointment (ii) Non-Functional Selection Grade to Higher Grade Clerks after 05 years of service (iii) Restructuring of Statistical Cadre (iv)Timely filling up of Promotional and vacant posts; especially in Departments like Education, Agriculture, Health etc. (v) Delay in award of MACP due to wrong interpretation of ‘Very Good’ stipulation (vi) Construction of sufficient number of quarters and protection of government land etc.
The meeting also expressed serious concern over the spiralling prices of essential commodities. The meeting noted that prices of vegetables including Onion and Potato, fish, etc. are controlled by the ‘Middle Men’ and concerned authorities are turning blind eyes towards such violations. The meeting demanded effective measures for price control by the Civil Supplies department and District authorities.
Shri P.Sathyapal, President chaired the meeting while Shri T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary presented the report of the Assocation’s activites during the period.
