Port Blair, Dec.12: With a view to promote cleanliness and to preserve the pristine beauty of the beaches on the Islands, troops and families of Andaman and Nicobar Command carried out beach cleaning drive in Ranjit Vihar, Birchgunj on 11 Dec 17, as part of “Swachhta Pakhwada”. A lot of plastic waste and filth piled up along the beaches was collected and taken for segregation at the Segregation and Waste Management Centre, Birchgunj. The troops and their families residing in Birchgunj Military Station pledged to keep the beaches clean so as to preserve the natural beauty and handover a clean legacy the future generation.
