Port Blair, June 29: The Non-Gazetted Government Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands will hold a State-level Convention at 4.30 p.m. on 30th June, 2012 at Hotel ACC, Mohanpura, Port Blair on the 14-point Charter of Demands submitted to the Cabinet Secretary, Government of India by the Confederation of Central Govt. Employees & Workers, New Delhi.
The Confederation has started a nation-wide campaign on the Charter of Demands which includes revision of wages of central government employees with effect from 1.1.2011 by setting up the 7th Central Pay Commission and every five years thereafter; Merge DA with Pay for all purposes including pension with effect from 1.1.2011; Fill up all vacant posts and create posts on functional requirements; Remove restrictions imposed on compassionate appointment; Stop downsizing, outsourcing, contractorisation, corporatisation and privatization of government functions; Scrap New Pension Scheme and introduce statutory defined benefit pension to all central government employees irrespective of the date of recruitment; Regularise the daily-rated workers, contingent and casual workers and bring in a permanent scheme of regularization; Revise the OTA and Night Duty Allowance and clothing rates of uniforms, stop price rise, strengthen PDS, and to stop the move to introduce productivity linked wage system, performance related pay; introduce PLB in all departments, remove the ceiling of emoluments for bonus computations, etc.
Trade Union and Association leaders will address the Convention which will be attended by government employees and workers of Port Blair and South Andaman areas.
