Port Blair, Dec 04: Former Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lt. Gen (Retd.) A K Singh soon after assuming charge had visited the Marina Park and after hearing about old salt water swimming pool had asked the Port Blair Municipal Council to put up a Comprehensive plan to develop the Marina front further including the feasibility of reactivating the sea pool, damaged during the tsunami. But even after change to two Lt. Governors, no action has been initiated by PBMC to rebuild the salt water swimming pool.
People of Port Blair and tourists used to have lot of fun in the salt water swimming pool but now that is an history. People of Port Blair hope that someday the PBMC will get enough time to look into this matter and construct the Sea Pool again.
After sighting of crocodiles and recent crocodile attacks swimming activities in all the beaches of South Andaman region has been prohibited leaving tourists deeply disappointed.
It seems now the structures like salt water swimming pool is the best option to deal with the present situation as such concrete structure will not only protect tourists from crocodiles and all other threats but also will add fun to swimming experience of tourists and local residents.
