Port Blair, Nov 28: In order to check the preparedness of safety services to deal with an accident/ incident at Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair, an simulated exercise is scheduled to be conducted on 30 Nov 17 from 03:00 PM to 05:50 PM. During the exercise a Mass Casualty situation will be simulated. Dummy casualties will be evacuated to GB Pant Hospital and Naval Hospital INHS Dhanvantari. The exercise will involve heavy movement of Ambulances and associated vehicles to and from the Airport to the hospitals.
Public is requested to avoid using the stretch of road from GB Pant Hospital to INS Utkrosh (Lambaline) via VIP Road and from Lambaline to INHS Dhanvantari via Minnie Bay circle from 02:45 PM to 06:00 PM. Various stakeholders that will be participating in the exercise are the Andaman and Nicobar Command, Airport Authority of India, Directorate of Health Services, Disaster Management Cell (Andaman & Nicobar Secretariat) and District Police.
