Port Blair, Nov 26: It is brought to the notice of the electricity consumers and general public that due to the problem occurred in Alternator Winding of 02 DG Units (5 MW each) of 20 M/s. Suryachakra Power Plant, Bambooflat, both the units have become nonfunctional, resulting a shortfall of power. The repair of these alternators are requires experts from mainland alongwith special tools & tackles and spares & equipments, hence the repair work will take considerable time. To manage the shortfall of power generation through available power, the Electricity Department has forced to exercise one hour rotational load shedding during evening peak hours i.e. 5 PM to about 11.30 PM, in Port Blair and South Andaman, till repairing of both the DG units.
In addition for the running maintenance of other DG Units, there may 45 to 60 minutes rotational load shedding during day hours on as and when required basis also be carried out.
However, detail load shedding schedule will be issued / published on Monday.
The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted and the consumers are requested to bear with the situation.
