Diglipur, Nov 16: The Directorate of Shipping Services silently re-started boats to Diglipur from 23rd September 2017, which were very much helpful for the passengers, especially for patients who are referred to Port Blair.
But again 18 days have passed and no boats have been sent for Diglipur by DSS due to shortage of boats. During the month of August also the boats service was stopped for 28 days.
Already the so called “National Highway” is in pathetic shape and the intensity of accidents is increasing day by day. Women, children, old people and patients are forced to travel in old dilapidated buses.
The Administration is providing daily boats to Havelock and Baratang apart from Neil Island and Rangat but for Diglipur why regular boats are not sent.
Meanwhile the State run Helicopter is used for VIPs and Political leaders apart from Patients referred to GB Pant and hence common man have no option for safe travel. Hope someday the Shipping Services the CS and the LG will understand the problem being faced by Diglipur residents.
