Port Blair, Nov 16: In a crucial development all prominent media persons of Andaman and Nicobar Islands today refused to attend the official National Press Day function organised at Megapode Resort by Andaman and Nicobar Administration and staged boycott.
All prominent media persons later organised National Press Day on their own at hotel TSG Emerald View in which the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Mr Bishnu Pada Ray was invited as the Chief Guest.
During the programme local media personnel highlighted their problems in front of the Member of Parliament.
Addressing to the gathering the MP Mr Ray said that he will extend all possible help to media personnel and assured that he will raise this issue in the parliament. He also promised to take a delegation of media personnel to New Delhi and will raise this issue with concern ministry and with Prime Minster of India.
