Port Blair, June 28: The Bharatiya Janta Party today requested the Lt. Governor, Chief Secretary and Principal Chief Conservator of Forest to earmark some part of these islands for extraction of sea sand to meet the local requirement of these Islands.
In a letter, Mr. R Mohan the President of BJP today said that following ban on extraction of sea sand by SC, islanders are facing difficulty in carrying out any kind of construction works.
Mr. Mohan has also requested the LG, CS and PCCF to allow four wheelers upto limestone case of Baratang as tourists, especially elderly people are facing difficulty to walk the 2km stretch.
