Diglipur, Nov 01: Dozens of Mazdoors working under the Electricity Department at Diglipur staged protest this evening in front of Electricity Department, Diglipur for discharging them from their duties all of the sudden.
As per reports, these Mazdoors shouted slogans against the department for suddenly discharging them from duties.
Later the Executive Engineer reached the spot and said them that they were not engaged in the duties as DRMs but on Mandays following which they have been discharged from their duties, which is as per the law.
He further said that for Mandays the fund is allocated by the Administration and not by the Electricity Department.
However, the DRMs were not satisfied with the Executive Engineer’s clarifications and before calling off the protest they demanded the administration that if they are not engaged again then they will continue the protest in coming days too.
When contacted, the Executive Engineer of Electricity Department’s Diglipur Division, Mr. M G Harshe said that he has received no fresh orders from head office for further engaging these workers on Mandays and this is the reason why they have been removed.
