Mayabunder, Oct 24: The Food safety unit has seized around 616 pkts of zarda including 69 zarda of 40 gm each on 20 October.
As per reports the zarda was seized from the possession of Mr. Samir Das S/o Mr. Ramesh Das R/o Subhash Gram, Diglipur. It is learnt that while checking the cargo at Mayabunder Jetty the food safety officers found the zarda which was brought in a water filter alongwith other articles from Kolkata by MV Nicobar by Mr. Samir Das. The food safety team consisting of Mr. K.K Paul, Designated officer (Food Safety) and Mr. K.Kumar, Food Safety Officer. Further details are awaited.
