Port Blair, Oct 22: As part of the 17th Command Raising Day of Andaman and Nicobar Command, an Amphibious Demonstration was conducted at Corbyn’s beach on 22 Oct 17. Hundreds of school children, NCC cadets and Maj Gen PS Sai, Chief of Staff, Andaman & Nicobar Command as chief guest witnessed the demonstration.
Co-ordinated operation undertaken by all four Components Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, a unique feature of this Command, was showcased. The demonstration included operation at sea, air, land and commenced with fly past by the Indian Coast Guard Chetak carrying the ANC flag.
The assault landing capabilities of Landing Craft Utility were also showcased alongwith demonstration of slithering operation by Ghatak Platoon at Snake Rock. The MI-17 V5 helicopters enthralled the audience through helo casting of Geminis and slithering of Marine Commandoes on to the Geminis.
A combat air patrol was maintained by MI-17 V5 helicopters during the demonstration. The crowd gathered at the Corbyn’s Cove Beach were thrilled to see the assault by BMPs and ‘Dhawa’ by Infantry section. The demonstration concluded with the retraction of LCU and fly past by MI-17 helicopters.
