Port Blair, Oct 17: Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Defence Minister of India will be visiting Andaman & Nicobar Command on 18 Oct & 19 Oct 17 and will celebrate diwali with troops and interact with the families during various events over the two days.
On her maiden visit she will also be visiting the operational area of the Command and Air Force Station Car Nicobar.
She will be laying wreaths at the Swatantra Jyoti in Cellular Jail and Tsunami Memorial at Car Nicobar.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands have India’s only joint integrated defence command, known as Andaman Nicobar Command, which guards this last outpost of India’s territory.
