Port Blair, June 27: Soon the Andaman and Nicobar Police Department and Department of Civil Supplies and Consumers Affair may launch a joint drive to impose heavy fine on those auto drivers who refuses to charge fare from passengers as per the electronic-auto- fare- metre.
Since a long time general public have been complaining about the practice of some auto drivers to charge, excessive fares from them.
According to highly placed sources, recently in a meeting between Officers of Police Department and Department of CS & CA the decision was taken.
“It is already mandatory to charge fare from passengers as per electronic- fare –meter, now we will enforce this rule, strictly,” a senior police officer told Andaman Sheekha.
