Port Blair, June 27: The Expenditure Finance Committee of the Central Government in its meeting held on 27 June has approved the grant of compensation in lieu of submerged land of the farmers affected by Tsunami.
The Lt. Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM and Chief Secretary were present in Delhi to pursue this matter which has been pending for quite sometime. Home Ministry had already conveyed its in-principle approval some time back. With the clearance of the proposal from the Expenditure Finance Committee, the payment process will now start shortly.
