Port Blair, Oct12: Deepawali festival will be celebrated on 19/10/2017 in A&N Islands. In view of the suggestions of Learned Amicus Curiae and approved by the Hon’ble Supreme Court on the control of noise pollution during the festival season, general public is hereby informed that no fire crackers shall be used between 10.00 PM to 06.00 AM. Similarly, fire crackers are also not to be used at any time in the areas designated as silence zones.Port Blair, Oct12: Deepawali festival will be celebrated on 19/10/2017 in A&N Islands. Similarly, fire crackers are also not to be used at any time in the areas designated as silence zones. General public is also advised to earmark common central places in every locality/area where people could gather and burst fire crackers within the prescribed limits of time i.e. from 06.00 AM to 10.00 PM and noise levels. It is further informed that loud speaker or public address system is to be used by general public only after obtaining written permission from competent authority and no one shall beat a drum or tom-tom or blow a trumpet or beat or sound any instrument or use any sound amplifier at night between 10.00 PM and 06.00 AM. These directions are meant for the safety and security of the general public while they enjoy the festival in its gaiety.
