Diglipur, Oct 08: On 07 October a Class VI student of GSSS Swaraj gram was badly injured due to felling of wooden beam on his right hand. This incident occurred when students were going towards new RCC building at around 8:30 am passing through the old Wooden building.
Sources during minor scuffle between students, one student hit the wall of the wooden building and because of which a wodden beam of 6X4 inch of about 3 mtrs fell on two students.
One boy reportedly escaped while the beam fell on another boy namely Arpan Mazumdar’s hand. The old dilapidated building which stands exactly in front of the School has not been demolished yet, despite pointing out this issue by villagers many times.
After the incident, the father of the child was informed and immediately the child was brought to PHC Radhanagar, from there the injured child was referred to CHC Diglipur.
After X-ray a fracture was detected in the right hand of the child. He was treated and advised for 28 days rest by the doctor.
It is learnt that as per the Disaster Management escape plan, in every school there must be an escape route during the disaster from where the students can be transferred to a safer place, for which the route passing through the old school building was closed by the APWD, which was later made open on instruction of the School principal..
The DEO Diglipur visited the school after this incident and asked the APWD authorities to immediately demolish the old building.
