Port Blair, Oct 01: The Chairperson, Andaman & Nicobar Islands Waqf Board Mr. Mohammed Tabraiz along with Mr. K. Alvi, Member called upon Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, the Cabinet Minister for Minority Affairs at New Delhi and discussed issues regarding increase of quota for HAJ PILGRIMS from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, strengthening of Waqf Board and development of Waqf properties of A & N Islands. The Minister assured the Chairperson that all efforts would be taken to address the issues raised in the Meeting. During the visit the Chairperson also called upon Mr. Ameising Luikham, Secretary to GOI, Ministry of Minority Affairs and also held discussion with Mr. J. Alam, Joint Secretary GOI, Ministry of Home Affairs. Mr. J. The Chairperson also called upon the Managing Director and Senior Advisor, National Waqf Development Cooperation and also the Secretary, Central Waqf Council and had series of discussion regarding Strengthening of Waqf Board and development of Waqf Properties.
In order to provide exposure to the children’s belonging to the Minority Community of Andaman & Nicobar Islands for preparing for Civil Service Examination, the Chairperson had discussion with the officials of HAMDARD STUDY CIRCLE and ZAKAT FOUNDATION of India. Both the aforesaid Association agreed to setup a centre in Port Blair for appearing in the test of getting admission in the aforesaid coaching centre. The President of ZAKAT FOUNDATION of India Dr. Syed Zafar Mahmood, a former India Revenue Service Officer has also agreed to visit Port Blair for holding an Orientation Programme to encourage the student to take up Civil Service as their carrier.
