Baratang, Oct 01: Two incidents of breakdown of ATR buses today left ATR passengers stranded for several hours.
In the first incident a Rangat special STS bus today got flat tyre at Potatang area near Middle Strait, while it was going from Port Blair to Rangat.
The bus was delayed as no tools or equipments were reportedly available for the repair, leaving all passengers stranded in ATR.
Later tools were brought from the STS unit of Baratang after which the bus was repaired and passengers crossed the Middle Strait at around 06:50 pm it is learnt.
In the second incident Anand bus which was on its way from Diglipur to Port Blair suffered breakdown of Spring Leaf near Gandhighat Jetty, leaving passengers stranded. It is learnt that anyhow the bus managed to reach Nilambur Jetty around 06:40pm. Also a STS bus was hired by the private bus from STS unit Baratang for the transfer of passengers back to Port Blair.
When the last report poured in the bus operators were seeking assistance with the police for permission to cross the Jarawa Reserve Forest at night.
