Port Blair, September 19: Due to incessant rain yesterday, a huge tree lost its grip on the soft soil and fell on a house situated at Lamba Khadi, Manpur at around 09:30pm. No one suffered any injuries in the incident.
The entire house reported major damages because of the incident and the members of the house are now somehow managing to stay in the house.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr Anand Amrit Raj, Ex-Upadhyaksh, South Andaman Zilla Parishad and also a resident of the area said that there are many such trees in the area which are at the verge of collapsing and therefore it is to allocate sufficient funds to the Panchayat to cut down all the marked trees in the area. He further requested the administration to provide some kind of compensation to the family who suffered major loss yesterday.
