Port Blair, Sep 15: In order to avoid any untoward incident during Durga Puja Celebration, the Fire Service has released precautionary measures to be adopted for construction of pandalsfor strict implementation by thepuja committees for erecting pandals. Some of the important precautionary measures are mentioned as No Pandal shall be made beyond 45 mtrs. from main road, No Pandal shall be erected underneath high tension electrical line. Erection of pandal shall be undertaken approx 6 feet far from the high tension line, The Pandal shall not be madewithin 15 meters from any electrical installations or any hazardous substances / places / stores etc. which may cause fire, The Exit and Entry of the Pandal shall be 5 mtrs. wide with 8 mtr. Arch, The electrical wires having ISI mark shall be used for internal wiring and additional light fittings in and outside Pandal, Proper Electric Line Control Breakers (ELCBs) shall be used in the Pandal to control for uneven power supply, Fire Works and open flames shall not be used within the vicinity of the Pandal, Adequate Fire Fighting arrangements shall be provided.
