Port Blair, Sep 15: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit No-I of JNRM today organized orientation programme for the newly inducted NSS volunteers in the seminar hall of JNRM. The programme was conducted in three sessions and it was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Chief Guest Shri. Kundan Lal, DYC, Nehru Yuva Kendra and the guest of honour Shri. N. Balakrishnan, Associate Professor, Department of Political Science.
Speaking on the occasion the guests advised the students to involve them in all the NSS activities and be benefited. Earlier delivering the welcome address the programme officer Dr. Kandimuthu highlighted the importance of such orientation programme for the new volunteers. He conducted session on NSS structure and activities, NSS as a centrally sponsored scheme and how it enables the students to take part in social service activities. He said NSS is for personality development through community development activities. NSS volunteer Dibyendu Das proposed vote of thanks and Sarojni Lakra moderated the programe.
