Port Blair, September 06: The Joint Secretary, Parivartan, an RTI Activists’ Association, Mr Thomas Tirkey has requested the Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration to constitute a price fixation Committee of Essential Commodities, Vegetables, Fish etc.
In a letter addressed to the CS, Mr Thomas stated that earlier the Civil Supplies department used to fix the rates of essential commodities, vegetables, Fish etc and used to publish it in the newspapers because of which the consumers used to know the rate charged by the shop keeper is genuine or not.
Further Mr Thomas stated that in past couple of months the Civil Supplies Department has stopped publishing the rates of commodities because of which the Consumers are now often fooled by some shop or business owners.
