Port Blair, Sep 01: The institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is a premier professional body set up under an ACT of parliament, i.e. Company Secretaries Act. 1980, for the regulation and development of profession of company Secretaries in India. It functions under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, government of India. The institute being a pro-active body focuses on best and top-quality education to students of Company Secretaries Course and best quality set standards for CS members. The institute has over 50,000 members and over 4 Lakh Students on its roll.
CS (Dr.) Shyam Agrawal, president, the institute of company Secretaries of India, outlined major achievements & initiatives of the institute and briefed the media about the important role played by Company Secretaries in the corporate sector.
CS (Dr.) Agarwal said, “ICSI with its vision ‘to be global leader in promoting good corporate governance’” and the mission to develop high caliber professions facilitating good corporate governance has been playing a catalytic role in promoting governance and creating awareness on various critical issues related to corporate governance in the country
The institute of company Secretaries of India is taking various steps for rigorous capacity building of its members and students. Announcing another mega initiative of ICSI, President, ICSI informed that the Institute is organizing Mega Career Awareness Programmes across India to create complete awareness on CS Course and Profession to motivate students across India to choose CS course that offer inclusive growth in Economic and Business Sector.
A mega carrier Awareness Programme on the same lines was conducted at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya Shadipur, Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar islands.
The institute is also coming up with Mega Career Awareness Programmes in Jammu & Kashmir, North Eastern States and the Eastern & Western coastal areas of the country during the year.
Online facilities for syllabus switchover, claiming qualification-based paper-wise exemption, change of elective subject, etc have been made available on www.icsi.edu as initiatives for students.
