Port Blair, Sep 01: The PBMC has disconnected water supply of 30Hotels & Commercial establishments on 01.09.2017 because non-payment pending dues. However during the day, 12 firms deposited their dues and their water connections are being restored after levy of re-connection charges.
Further the PBMC has stopped supply water tankers to all those Institutions/Organization who have not cleared the past dues. No water tanker was provided to such institutes/organizations on 01.09.2017.
A drive has also started for cancellation of allotment of those tenants of the Municipal Properties who have failed to clear the dues even during the amnesty scheme under which 5% rebate was extended to clear all the pending dues by 30th June 2017. Now since the amnesty scheme is over, the said 5% rebate is not available and further an interest @ 18% is also being levied.
The PBMC has also imitated process for cancellation of licences of those agencies who have failed to clear their dues of Authorized Parking Site and Hoardings Sites by 31st August 2017.
Here it is mentioned that the PBMC allowed 10% rebate on payment of Property Tax by 31st July 2017. Now actions are being initiated in next few days against those who have not yet deposited their property tax. Firstly action will be taken against Hotels and other commercial establishment within and thereafter process for action against residential properties will also be started.
By this drive, the PBMC has collected old dues of about Rupees One crore.
