Port Blair, August 23: The Billyground Police yesterday recovered around 45 bottles of 750ml of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from a private vehicle, which is under full time booking for the Chairperson Zilla Parishad, North & Middle Andaman. The vehicle was going towards Billyground from Mayabunder.
As per reports, on a routine check up the Billyground Police found such a huge quantity of liquor from the vehicle bearing registration number AN 01 G 4592. According to sources, the Zilla Parishad Chairperson, North & Middle Andaman, Mr Saw Tatu was not in the car during the time of search but the car was having name plate of the Chairperson, N & M Andaman, Zilla Parishad.
As per detail the vehicle was also not having commercial permit.
As per the new rules at a time only 2 Number 750ml bottles can be purchased and in South Andaman card swiping is made
compulsory. Public is now demanding that the Police should disclose the source of that IMFL and card details from whom the driver purchased the IMFL.
It is also learnt that the rent out Car of Zilla Parishad Chairperson, North & Middle Andaman belongs to a bar owner.
Meanwhile, talking to Andaman Sheekha over phone, Mr Saw Tatu said that he has no knowledge about this case as he is presently in New Delhi to attend a meeting.
