Port Blair, August 22: A minor fire broke out this morning at around 11:30 am near a house at Junglighat, behind Chennai Stores. The fire was reported from a safe area below steps, which housed several electric meters.
No one suffered any injuries in the fire accident.
According to reports, the incident occurred due to short Circuit in the Electric Meter. Hundreds of People gathered in the area to have a glimpse of scene.
The matter was immediately reported to the Fire Services following which a team under the overall supervision of Inspector Sadhu Khan reached the spot with two Fire Tenders and one Water Bowser.
As per reports, it took hardly 15 minutes for the Fire Personnel to control the Fire. The Fire Personnel used 3 Carbon-dioxide Cylinders to control the fire. The House Owner suffered a loss of nearly Rs 35000/-, it is learnt.
A team of Traffic Police under the overall supervision of Inspector Hari Narayan also played a vital role in controlling the traffic and crowd of the area.
