Port Blair, Aug 18: ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resource, Karnal is a premier institute dedicated to work for identification, evaluation, characterization, conservation and utilization of livestock and poultry genetic resources of the country.
Nicobari pig and Nicobari fowl has been given Breed Conservation Award in the category of Individual and Institution respectively by ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resource, Karnal. It is pertinent to inform that Nicobari pig and Nicobari fowl have already been recognized as indigenous breed of these islands by the NBAGR.
The team members for institution category for conservation of Nicobari fowl at institution level are Dr. A. Kundu, Dr. T. Sujatha, Dr. Jai Sunder, Dr. A.K. De and Dr. S. Dam Roy from CIARI, Port Blair, beside Representative of the Tribal Council from Car Nicobar for Nicobari Pig will receive the award on 21st September 2017, during foundation day of ICAR-NBAGR, Karnal, Haryana.
