Port Blair, Aug 11: An awareness programme on fish disease surveillance and health management was conducted at Keralapuram village, Diglipur on 09-08-2017 under the guidance of Director, ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CIARI). Dr.K.Saravanan, Scientist briefed about the importance of aquatic animal disease surveillance, various aspects of aquaculture such as fish disease management, feed and water quality management to the farmers.
Water quality parameters were analyzed for the samples provided by the farmers and advised for better management of their fish ponds. Leaflets on fish culture practices and feed production methods were also distributed to the farmers. A total of 20 farmers attended the programme which was conducted under the NFDB funded project on National Surveillance Programme for Aquatic Animal Diseases (NSPAAD).
