Port Blair, Jul 20: A meeting was held with Mr Anand Kr, Secretary, MNRE which was attended by MP, A&N Islands on 19.07.2017 at 3.30 pm to provide Solar home Light systems and Street Light free of cost to about 6000 families living in forest encroachment areas through Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) and UT Administration Subsidy Scheme. During the meeting decisions were made on Review meeting (on delay in implementation of projects) to is to be held on 21.07.2017 at 11.30 am at MNRE HQ with NTPC, NLC, RIEL, SECI, UT Administration in presence of MP related to 100 MW Solar Energy and Solar/Wave/Wind/Biomass projects, Regarding the issue of Solar Home light System, Secretary directed Dr G. Prasad, Director to provide Home Lighting to 6000 forest encroachers at Free Of Cost.
The Salient features of Home Light System- is LED Bulbs, DC Fan/TV, 5 years guarantee of battery , 25 years guarantee of solar panels and if necessary on demand through payment by beneficiary, a DC current TV size- 9 by10 inch and approx. Fow which Cost will be around Rs. 8000 to 10000. 90 % subsidy will be borne by MNRE and 10 % by the UT Administration. Street Light will be provided to the forest encroachers villagers and 90 % subsidy will be borne by MNRE and 10 % by the UT Administration/MPLAD. Later he informed Mr Tarun Singh, Scientist, MNRE for awareness of forest encroachers and assessing the actual requirement.
