Port Blair, July 17: The Police Training School, Prothrapur, A&N Islands has organized 02 days course on “Human Trafficking” on 11th & 12th July, 2017 for in-service police personnel from the rank of PC to Inspector under the overall supervision of Smt. Geeta Rani Verma, Principal, PTS. The main objective of the course is to make aware/update the laws related to the Human Trafficking and its issues. During the training programme Shri T. Sebasteen Rtd. DySP, A&N Police and Ms. Rita Devi, Welfare Officer, Directorate of Social Welfare, Port Blair including the faculty members of PTS, Prothrapur have delivered valuable lectures on different topics like- Overview of Human trafficking and its aspects, Scope of Human Trafficking and responsibilities of Law enforcement agencies, Human Trafficking Dimensions, Challenges and Investigation, Trafficking In India: Social Determinants (with special reference to Trafficking of Women and Girl Child), Medico Legal issues in Human trafficking, The role of Police in Identifying and Assisting Victim of Human Trafficking for Sexual Exploitation, Step towards child abuse prevention and creating safe school environment etc. Altogether, 24 Police personnel from various Police stations/Units had participated in the course. The course was coordinated by SI T. Hemavathi, PTS, Prothrapur under the supervision of Vice Principal, PTS.
