Campbell Bay, July 07: The indefinite bandh which began yesterday at India’s southernmost landmass of India, Great Nicobar Islands of Andaman and Nicobar Chain, has been called off this afternoon after assurances given by local Administration.
The Indefinite Bandh began at Campbell Bay, the headquarter of Great Nicobar Island, by all political parties, all associations, organizations and members of general public.
The Band and Chakka Jam saw huge participation from public, who were demanding proper connectivity with Port Blair via ship, regular supply of fuel and uninterrupted power cut.
Yesterday agitating public of Great Nicobar submitted an 11 points demand to the Assistant Commissioner of Great Nicobar and demanded permanent solutions.
“The administration every time tries only to solve the problems temporarily now we need to bring change in the approach of the administration in solving problems of these far flung Islands,” said Mr. Sanjay Singh, vice president of Bharatiya Janta Party’s A & N Unit.
During a meeting this evening, when the Assistant Commissioner of Great Nicobar assured the representatives of the public that all the demands will be fulfilled within 10 days, the bandh was finally called off.
When all Andaman people will stand up for a good motorable road from Port Blair to Diglipur.
