Campbell Bay, July 04: The residents of Great Nicobar Island, who are already facing numerous difficulties following unavailability of Ships, Non-availability of Petrol at the ANIIDCO Outlet, are now facing more than ten hours long power cut a day.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Vice President, Bhartiya Janta Party, Mr Sanjay Singh said that the residents of Great Nicobar are considered nothing by the administration thus the islanders are facing such problems.
“The residents have pleaded the administration so many times to sent ships for the Island, on a regular basis and also to sent petrol regularly via Cargo Ships etc. but none of the problems have been resolved forcing us to plan a Campbell Bay Bandh soon,” Mr Sanjay said.
Further talking to Andaman Sheekha over phone Mr Sanjay Sing said that adding to the problems of shortage of petrol and ships in the island, now the Electricity Department has started a power cut of more than 10 hours every day.
“Morning since 04:00am to 10:00am there is continuous power cut and then from 12:00pm to 04:00pm there is a blackout again, till now it is not even known whether the top bosses of the administration even known about the situation, we are facing through on daily basis. If they are aware than it is really disheartening that the administration is doing nothing for us,” said Mr Sanjay Singh.
The residents told Andaman Sheekha that even today there was no petrol in the ANIIDCO outlet.
