Port Blair, July 03: The Andaman Nicobar Chess Association is organized 1st Under -25 Andaman Nicobar Chess Championship, 2017 on 02/07/2017 from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkiya Mahavidhyalaya, Port Blair. The 15 year old Boy D. Shubham Rao has won this Championship scoring 5 ½ points out of possible 6 and take away the title of Champion with Rs.1000/- Cash prize. The Championship attracted 57 players from the Islands.
The Championship was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. B. Eshwar Rao, Chairman, PBMC in his address he urged to conduct more nos. of such event in all the wards and wishes for the upcoming event 26th Under-25 National Chess Championship, 2017 organizing by the Association.
Smti Rashmi Singh, Secretary, Industries & Social Welfare Board, Andaman & Nicobar Administration was the Chief Guest at Closing Ceremony and gave away the prizes to the winner of this Championship and appreciate upon the action taken by the ANCA to bring up a National event here in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Further, she lauded to teach & coach children and urged the players and parent to be more dedicate for the game to reach their goal narrating the example of GM Parimarjan Nagi, GM Sahaj Grover & WGM Tania Schadev of Delhi. Mr. G. Bhasker, Vice President AICF was the guest of honor and he also narrated about function of the Association and preparation of upcoming National event.
