Port Blair, Jun 14: The PCC President Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has invited the attention of the Lt. Governor, A & N Islands towards the problems being faced by the public in general and the Muslaman brothers in particular during the Holy month of Ramzan due to nonissue of sugar through Fair Price Shops by Supply Department for the past 2-3 months.
In his letter Shri Kuldeep has stated that the Musalman brothers are performing “Roza” and for “Aftari” they prepare sweets and other eatables for which sugar is an essential commodity. Sweets are also distributed by them to others during the festival Eid-ul-Fiter which falls on 26th of this month. Due to nonissue of sugar through FPS the rate of sugar in the open market is beyond the reach of common man and also not easily available.
Shri Kuldeep has requested the LG to look into the matter and issue appropriate direction to the Supply Department for issue of sugar through FPS at the earliest.
