Port Blair, Jun 13: The PCC President Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma with a delegation of Fishermen and general public of Panighat, Hope Town, Bambooflat and Shore point villages met the Secretary (Fisheries) A & N Administration on 09/06/2017 and discussed various problems pertaining to Fishermen and general public of the area. The PCC President urged the Secretary (Fisheries) for immediate action for providing ( i) a retaining wall on one side of the Ramp with proper steps (ii) Boat repairing shed in the vicinity of Fish landing centre (iii) Cold Storage facilities (iv) Diesel Bunk facilities (v) Platform for drying fish (vi) Fish net mending shed etc, at the Fish Landing centre under construction at Panighat since these facilities are very much essential for its smooth functioning.
Shri Kuldeep, PCC President further informed the Secretary (Fisheries) that an area of 0.02 Hect. (out of total area of 0.11 Hect) bearing survey No. 38/2 at Hope town village (near Mariyamman Temple) was set-apart for construction of Fishermen shed vide DC, S/A order No. 631 dated 25th May 2015. However, till date no work has been taken up. Shri Kuldeep requested the Secretary (Fisheries) to look into the matter and take appropriate action for construction of a fishermen shed on the allotted land.
