
Port Blair, Jun 13: An impressive farewell parade in the honour of Shri Rajesh Malik, IPS, the outgoing DGP was held at Police Lines, Parade Ground. Shri Rajesh Malik, IPS laid the wreath in the martyr’s column at Police Lines. A total of 05 platoons comprising IRBn, a platoon each of Constable Executive (Female), Constable Executive (Male), Home Guards and Police Band participated in the Farwell Parade. The parade was commanded by Shri Naveen Kumar, Assistant Commandant, IRBn. A gathering of about 500 personnel of various ranks from different units and senior officers from Police Department attended the function.
While addressing the gathering, Shri Rajesh Malik, IPS informed the gathering about the steps taken for improving the quality of policing and delivery of public services to the citizens of A&N Islands during his tenure like implementation of various schemes of Govt. of India viz. Swatch Bharat Abhiyan, cashless transaction, e-payment scheme, BetiBachaoBetiPadhao etc. He also spoke about the construction of Out Post and Police Station buildings, introduction of “Lost Article Report” and e-quarter allotment to the police personnel. Various scheme were launched for the benefit of the public like “DGP Helpdesk portal” wherein the public can file online complaints and grievances for police assistance, “Third Eye Schemes” for reporting traffic offences through “Facebook”, “Twitter and “WhatsApp”, “Student Police Corps” in various schools, “SAJAG” and “Pink Police Patrol” for safety of women, children and vulnerable sections of the society. In addition, DGP’s Insignia was introduced and awarded to 263 police personnel of various ranks. He also thanked all the staff of A & N Police for their support in helping to achieve new laurels for A & N Police. In the end, the DGP wished the best to all police personnel and their family members for a bright future and appealed them to discharge their duties with dedication and sincerity to take the A&N Police to new and glorious heights.
