
Port Blair, June 09: The sighting of a Crocodile near the Junglighat Jetty since past one to two months have created panic among the people, those are working in the Junglighat Jetty including the Fishermen Community of Junglighat area. People of the area were also found fuming, as till date the Wildlife Wing of the Forest Department failed to capture the Crocodile.
Although talking to Andaman Sheekha today, the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Wildlife, Mr Manmohan Singh Negi assured the General Public that the Wildlife Wing of the Forest Department is on to rescue the Crocodile. Today,the Forest Department tried to Rescue the Crocodile in an attempt from the Junglighat Jetty but unfortunately the opportunity was missed as the Crocodile escaped from the net.
Mr Negi said,that to avoid any Human- Crocodile conflict the Wildlife Wing of the Forest Department is also creating awareness among the people, fishermen community and resident of the Junglighat area on regular basis.
“Being a rainy season there is a chance that Crocodile will enter in the low lying areas and to avoid it has been advised to public not to venture into the sea,” Mr Negi said.
The PCCF Wildlife also appealed the Fishermen of Junglighat area to not throw any waste of Fish or Chicken in the Sea as its an easy food for the Crocodile, following which the Crocodile may come close to sea which can result into a Human-Crocodile Conflict.
